Poker Night at the Inventory Returns March 5 on Steam, PlayStation, and Switch

Fifteen years after its original release, Poker Night at the Inventory is making its long-awaited comeback. Originally launched by Telltale Games in 2010, the cult-favorite Texas Hold’em crossover has been unavailable for purchase since 2019. That’s about to change thanks to Skunkape Games, a studio made up of former Telltale developers who worked on the original title.

The newly remastered Poker Night at the Inventory launches March 5 on Steam, and for the first time ever, on PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.

A Cult Crossover Returns to the Table

Inspired by Telltale’s very first release, Telltale Texas Hold’em from 2005, Poker Night at the Inventory was originally developed in just three months as an experimental project. Despite its modest origins, the game became a fan favorite, blending a fast-paced poker simulation with sharp comedy and constant trash talk.

Players face off against an unforgettable lineup: Max from Sam & Max, Strong Bad of Homestar Runner fame, Tycho Brahe from Penny Arcade, and The Heavy from Team Fortress 2. The result is a poker table packed with personality, banter, and absurd humor that helped define Telltale’s early identity.

A Faithful Remaster With Modern Touches

Skunkape Games’ remastered edition brings Poker Night at the Inventory up to date with overhauled graphics and lighting, gameplay fixes that improve the poker simulation, and a variety of new unlockables and quality-of-life improvements. The remaster was built using the same engine and pipeline as Skunkape’s recent Sam & Max trilogy remasters, ensuring consistency with their previous restoration work.

The team’s goal is to preserve the spirit of the original while smoothing out rough edges on modern platforms.

Team Fortress 2 Items Make Their Comeback

One of the most beloved features of the original release is also returning. When opponents run low on cash, they’ll once again put up unique items as collateral. Steam players who win these items at the table will be able to use them in Valve’s Team Fortress 2, just like in the original version.

The return of these unlockables also marks the comeback of iconic items such as the legendary Lugermorph, a fan-favorite reward from the original game.

Poker Night Arts & Crafts Contest Returns

To celebrate the remaster’s launch, Skunkape Games is reviving the Poker Night Arts & Crafts Contest, a tradition from the early Telltale community. This year’s contest is officially live, with a Poker Night theme encouraging entries featuring Max, Strong Bad, Tycho, and The Heavy.

The submission deadline is February 27, and winners will be announced on March 4. Prizes include game keys, original branded poker chips from Telltale’s 2010 launch, and a grand prize bundle featuring collectibles from all four franchises.
