Dark Souls Teaches Early Players a Lesson Only From Software Could Teach

It would appear that players that got their hands on a copy of Dark Souls early in Japan have a special surprise in store for them, courtesy of developer From Software. Would-be players that broke the September 22nd street date had their dark worlds invaded by extremely powerful Black Phantoms: normally player controlled characters that hunt down other players. Considering the nature of Dark Souls and it’s spiritual predecessor, Demon’s Souls, this difficulty increase seems quite fitting.

Dark Souls was recently confirmed for US release and will hit shelves October 4th. Those who pre-ordered will get bumped up to the Limited Edition for no extra cost.

I seriously cannot wait.
