Epic Mickey Sequel Announced

In a interview with the Associated Press, Warren Spector announced a sequel to the 2010 Wii game, Epic Mickey, to release this Fall on the Wii, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360.

The game, titled “Disney’s Epic Mickey: The Power of Two,” will address some of the problems critics noted in the original title. Those issues include the camera placement, which was criticized for causing players to inadvertently send Mickey jumping the wrong direction in platforming segments.

“We’ve had a team working on the camera from literally the day we finished the first game,” Spector said. “They’ll be working on it until the day we ship the second game. (There have been) over 1,000 specific changes made to the camera. Our goal is that you will not have to touch the manual camera controls even once to play through the main story path of this game.”

Junction Point Studios, the studio behind Epic Mickey and the upcoming sequel, is also addressing the absence of voice actors in the first title. The Power of Two will not only feature a cast for voicing the colorful characters in the sequel, but Spector says the game will be a musical as well.

“I love the co-op and next-gen stuff, but for me, when a character breaks into song, which they do on a regular basis in this game, it’s magic,” Spector said.

The Power of Two will feature drop-in and drop-out co-op, where one player will control Mickey Mouse, and another player or AI will control Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, the long lost Disney character that played a significant role in Epic Mickey.

The game will once again be set in the “Wasteland”, the setting for the original title.
