Sony: No Playstation 4 at E3 2012

Rumors of Sony’s next-gen console have been squashed by Sony consumer products president Kaz Hirai who stated that the company has no plans to unveil a new Playstation at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo in June.

Hirai said, “Andy (House) is absolutely right in that we are not making any announcements at E3,” during a roundtable interview at the Consumer Electronics Show this week in response to SCE president Andrew House who stated, “”I don’t think we’re contemplating talking about anything to do with future console iterations at this point.”

Hirai added, “I’ve always said a 10-year life cycle for PS3, and there is no reason to go away from that.” Although it does not necessarily mean that the next console from Sony will appear in 2016.
