“Pokemon X” & “Pokemon Y” Coming October 2013 Worldwide

Pokemon X and Pokemon Y

In a worldwide Pokemon specific Nintendo Direct, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata announced two new Pokemon games coming to 3DS to Japan, USA, Europe and Australia in October of this year.

The game features a new art style, favoring 3D polygonal models instead of the classic style that has been in all of the previous games. In addition to the new art style the game continues the tradition of bringing new, never before seen Pokemon into the hands of players. The new starter Pokémon are Grass-type Chespin, Fire-type Fennekin, and Water-type Froakie. Iwata also commented that it will be possible for players to encounter some of their favorite Pokemon in the new games, but did not specify on how this will work. Hardware features of the 3DS will be incorporated into the games, but again Nintendo has yet to specify.

I hope this means we will get another exciting reason to street pass with people and to make sure we never leave the house without a fully charged 3DS in pocket. You can watch the full trailer from the Nintendo Direct announcement here:
