Chronicles: Medieval Is a Massive Medieval Sandbox Where Every Swing Shapes Your Legacy

Revealed during Summer Game Fest, Chronicles: Medieval is the newly announced debut project from Raw Power Games, a studio formed by veterans from The Witcher 3, Hitman, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Cyberpunk 2077. Powered by Unreal Engine 5 and the studio’s proprietary Asgard tech, this massive sandbox RPG is coming to early access in 2026 on PC via Steam.

Watch the announcement trailer narrated by none other than Tom Hardy, and get your first look at a world where you forge your destiny—one sword swing at a time.

Your Destiny, Your Decisions

Set in the brutal beauty of 14th-15th century Europe, Chronicles: Medieval is more than a battlefield simulator. It’s a living, breathing medieval sandbox, where you carve your path—be it warlord, trader, diplomat, or hero of the people. Players will create a custom character, engage in dynamic storylines, and shape the world through diplomacy, conquest, or cunning.

Senior Designer Andrzej Zawadzki puts it best:

“Whether players dream of carving out a kingdom, leading armies into battle, or becoming the most prosperous trader, history is written by their hand.”

Key Features at Early Access Launch

  • A Reactive Medieval Sandbox – Travel a vibrant medieval Europe teeming with political intrigue, economic unrest, and military threats. No two stories will play the same.
  • Tactical Combat, Massive Battles – Command troops in huge historical battles while also fighting on the front lines in third-person. Control legendary units like English longbowmen, French cavalry, and Imperial infantry.
  • Authentic Medieval Martial Arts – Raw Power Games partnered with HEMA champion Björn Rüther to bring historically accurate swordplay and weighty animations that feel true to the era.
  • Write Your Own Story – Every choice matters. Every skirmish, alliance, or betrayal can lead to a new legacy. Player-driven progression means your tale unfolds uniquely every time.
  • Built with and for the Community – Early access development will focus heavily on player feedback. The dev team plans extensive playtests and updates guided by community involvement.

“We believe the best ideas come from players,” says Clemens Koch, Senior Community Manager. “We’re excited to build Chronicles: Medieval side-by-side with the community.”

A Studio of Raw Talent

Raw Power Games may be new in name, but their team of 100+ developers brings experience from some of gaming’s most celebrated titles. Based in Copenhagen with a remote-first philosophy, the studio is committed to building immersive worlds with a people-first approach.

Chronicles: Medieval is planned for early access release in 2026. Fans can join the community on Discord or follow development on social channels for future playtest opportunities and news.
