Marvel Cosmic Invasion Adds Silver Surfer & Beta Ray Bill, Voice Cast Revealed at SDCC

San Diego Comic-Con attendees got a cosmic surprise this week as Dotemu and Tribute Games revealed two new playable characters for the upcoming retro-inspired beat ’em up Marvel Cosmic Invasion. Fan favorites Silver Surfer and Beta Ray Bill have officially joined the game’s growing superhero roster, with both characters showcased in a new animated trailer and gameplay preview.

Published by Dotemu (TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge) and developed by Tribute Games, Marvel Cosmic Invasion is a side-scrolling brawler that mashes up the chaotic fun of classic arcade beat ‘em ups with modern tag-team action and a star-studded MARVEL lineup.

Tag-Team Action Meets Cosmic Mayhem

At the SDCC panel “Marvel Cosmic Invasion Deep Dive – A Nostalgia Driven Approach to Your Favorite Characters”, the dev team shared fresh details about the gameplay and story, including:

  • Silver Surfer floats between ground and air attacks with ease, stunning enemies using the Power Cosmic.
  • Beta Ray Bill brings hammer-swinging chaos to the battlefield, smashing through alien threats with brute force.

Both characters complement the game’s Cosmic Swap mechanic, allowing players to tag between two heroes in real time during combat.

Star-Studded Voice Cast Confirmed

In another surprise announcement, Cosmic Invasion will feature fully voiced characters, with some of the most iconic names in animation and gaming stepping in:

  • Brian Bloom as Captain America and Silver Surfer
  • Steve Blum as Venom and Beta Ray Bill
  • Matt Mercer as Nova and Annihilus
  • Cal Dodd (Wolverine), Josh Keaton (Spider-Man), Elysia Rotaru (She-Hulk), and more round out the cast

The full cast list already reads like a dream lineup for MARVEL fans, and more voice actors are expected to be revealed ahead of the game’s release.

More Heroes, More Villains, More Pixel-Powered Action

Set during a cosmic crisis sparked by Annihilus and his deadly Annihilation Wave, Marvel Cosmic Invasion takes players on a journey across New York City and into the Negative Zone, battling hordes of foes in 4-player drop-in/drop-out co-op with crossplay across platforms.

Confirmed playable characters so far include:

  • Captain America
  • Wolverine
  • Spider-Man
  • Storm
  • Phyla-Vell
  • Nova
  • Venom
  • She-Hulk
  • Rocket Raccoon
  • Silver Surfer
  • Beta Ray Bill

That’s 11 out of 15 characters revealed so far—so fans can still look forward to four surprise additions.

Marvel Cosmic Invasion launches in 2025 for PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 & 5, and Xbox, and is available to wishlist now on Steam.
