HoYoverse is turning up the heat with Zenless Zone Zero’s latest update, “The Impending Crash of Waves,” arriving July 16 across all platforms. The Version 2.1 update introduces two new summer-themed regions, fresh Agents from the quirky Spook Shack faction, stylish seasonal outfits, and a full slate of beachside activities for players looking to vibe—or vanquish—in paradise.
Welcome to Sailume Bay and Fantasy Resort
Two new zones join the map in Version 2.1. Sailume Bay serves as the backdrop for Season 2 Chapter 2’s main story content, where a crisis triggered by the Exaltists prompts an elite investigation. One of its newest participants, Alice Thymefield, joins the playable roster as an S-Rank Agent wielding regal swordsmanship and devastating Anomaly damage.
Meanwhile, Fantasy Resort is the event zone for all things summer. What was once a popular vacation destination has fallen into disrepair, and it’s up to players (aka Proxies) to restore it. From yacht-mounted shootouts and obstacle-course surfing to chill fishing and stylish selfies, the new region is packed with variety.
New Agents: Yuzuha and Alice Join the Fight
Two Spook Shack Agents headline the update’s banners:
- Ukinami Yuzuha (S-Rank Physical Support) – With her tanuki sidekick Kama, Yuzuha throws candy bombs and enhances Anomaly Buildup with her Sweet Scare mechanic, making her a key asset for any debuff-heavy team comp.
- Alice Thymefield (S-Rank Physical Anomaly) – Elegant yet deadly, Alice stacks Blade Etiquette through precise strikes and expends it for high-burst finishers.
The Spook Shack’s ranks also include Miss Esme, a support-focused S-Rank Bangboo with restorative abilities. Returning banner characters include Miyabi and Yanagi, letting players shore up their teams with rerun favorites.
Events, Outfits, and the Return of Bangboo Battles
Aside from the new characters and zones, Version 2.1 also introduces:
- Resort Restoration Events – Revive Fantasy Resort through a series of quests, minigames, and timed missions.
- Surfing & Sea Shooting – Navigate obstacle courses or blast baddies from boats in these two event modes.
- New Outfits – Summer-themed outfits drop for Yuzuha, Alice, and the protagonists.
- Fishing 2.0 – More species and less grind mean a better reel-time experience.
- “En-Nah” Chess Legend – A new Bangboo Auto Battler event with PvP functionality.
- Simulated Battle Trial Revamp – New scoring system prioritizes player skill and tactical mastery.
To celebrate the update, all players can claim 1,600 Polychromes during the Version 2.1 event window. The game remains free-to-play on PS5, Xbox, PC, iOS, and Android.
