Lost Hellden Gameplay Trailer Showcases New Characters and Combat at Gamescom 2025

Kwalee and Artisan Studios revealed a brand-new gameplay trailer for Lost Hellden during Gamescom 2025, offering fans a deeper dive into the upcoming JRPG’s bold artistic style, cinematic storytelling, and unique combat system. The footage highlights previously unseen environments that introduce sci-fi elements into its high fantasy world, while also teasing new playable characters and advanced combat mechanics.

The trailer also marked the official announcement of Kwalee partnering with Artisan Studios to bring Lost Hellden to PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S in 2026.

Story of Sin, Family, and Fate

Lost Hellden unfolds in the world of Era, where every person is bound to one of the Seven Deadly Sins under the faith of Unio. Those who resist are promised eternity in the sacred land of Hellden, while those who fail face a fate worse than death.

The game follows twins Cyphel and Leht, whose births defy this order. Cyphel is born without sin, while Leht bears the burden of all seven. Hidden away in a temple to be raised as defenders of the faith, their lives take a dramatic turn when Leht escapes, forcing Cyphel into a journey that uncovers monsters, rebels, and a celestial conspiracy. The story is fully voiced in both Japanese and English, delivering a mature narrative centered on identity, family, and self-discovery.

Innovation in Combat

One of Lost Hellden’s biggest highlights is its phased battle system, a hybrid of real-time action and turn-based strategy. Players will manage timing, positioning, elemental attributes, and team-based tactics while wielding powerful Transcendence abilities to shift the flow of combat.

The job system features 21 classes, an ability tree, and extensive equipment customization to encourage diverse playstyles. Eight fully playable characters join the journey, each with unique abilities and skill paths to master.

A Hand-Painted JRPG World

Built with what Artisan Studios calls “Deep 2D” technology, Lost Hellden blends 3D environments with hand-painted detail, evoking the feel of classic JRPG box art. Artist Takeshi Oga (Gravity Rush, Final Fantasy XI) lends his talents to the visuals, while Hitoshi Sakimoto (Final Fantasy XII, Valkyria Chronicles) composes the sweeping score.

The game’s world features dynamic weather, hidden items, and side activities, including Hexaken, a tactical board game popular in Era. Players will explore a vast and richly detailed setting filled with secrets and opportunities to shape their journey.
