Kwalee and Kwalee Labs have announced that Luna Abyss will launch on May 21, 2026. The single-player action-adventure will arrive on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Xbox Cloud Gaming with Game Pass, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
The new release date comes with a fresh trailer and another look at the game’s mix of first-person platforming, story-driven exploration, and bullet-hell combat.
A Prisoner Sent into the Depths of a Mimic Moon
In Luna Abyss, players follow Fawkes, a prisoner sentenced to descend into a derelict megastructure buried beneath the surface of the mimic moon Luna. Their mission is to recover forgotten technology from the depths of the Abyss and the ruins of a lost colony consumed by it.
Overseeing the journey is Aylin, an artificial prison guard who monitors every step as Fawkes moves deeper into the ruins. As the descent continues, players begin to uncover fragments of the colony of Greymont, along with the forces and beliefs that shaped its collapse.
First-Person Platforming and Bullet-Hell Combat
Luna Abyss combines fluid first-person movement with combat built around dodging heavy waves of enemy fire. Players will sprint, jump, and dash through a brutalist alien megastructure while fighting corrupted souls and cosmic horrors that inhabit the moon.
Kwalee says the game is built around adapting on the fly, with players needing to master their weapons and movement tools to survive increasingly dangerous encounters.
A Story-Driven Descent into Mystery
Beyond its combat, Luna Abyss leans heavily on atmosphere and mystery. The game’s setting is filled with echoes of the past, strange voices, and hints about the fate of the colony that once thrived there. As players go deeper, they will piece together the truth behind Luna, the Abyss, and Fawkes’ role in the larger story.
