The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is getting a new wave of details as Square Enix prepares to release the action RPG on June 18, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, Windows, and Steam. The latest information digs further into the game’s story, the Age of Magic setting, new characters, weapon systems, and optional side content.
Developed by Claytechworks and Team Asano, the game follows Elliot and Faie as they travel across multiple eras through the Doorway of Time in order to lift the curse placed on Princess Heuria of Huther. Their journey spans four ages across a thousand years, moving from the Age of Safekeeping into the Age of Reconstruction, the Age of Magic, and the Age of Budding.
The Age of Magic becomes a key focus
One of the bigger areas highlighted is the Age of Magic, a prosperous era driven by advances in magical technology. Square Enix describes it as humanity at its height, with enough magical progress to push back beast tribes, even as the future beyond it leads toward ruin.
Within this era, players will visit Weyzn, a nation built around magic and supported by two major research institutions. Forthewor is focused on progress at any cost, while Formanit is dedicated to using magic to improve people’s lives. The tension between those philosophies appears to be a major part of the setting.
New characters introduced in Weyzn
The new character reveals center on that Age of Magic storyline. Fausta, voiced by Sayaka Oohara in Japanese and Elizabeth Maxwell in English, is the former Forthewor researcher who broke away to establish the Formanit Institute. She is described as rigorous and highly trusted by those around her.
Marnie, voiced by Sayumi Suzushiro and Suzie Yeung, is a Formanit researcher specializing in magic technology and mechanical engineering, including field tests with magical organisms known as thaumata.
The update also introduces Hildebrandt, voiced by Show Hayami and Christopher Smith, the director of Forthewor and a results-driven researcher recognized for major breakthroughs in magic development. Rounding out the new group is Ikarus, voiced by Yuuya Uchida and Chris Okawa, the head of Weyzn’s nobility, who has concerns about Forthewor’s unchecked pursuit of progress and works closely with Fausta.
Weapon and magicite systems expand combat customization
Square Enix also outlines more of the game’s combat systems. Elliot can find seven weapon types, with stronger versions of the same weapon class offering not just improved attack power but also stronger special attacks. These weapons are scattered across caves and ruins throughout the different eras.
On top of that, players can customize weapons with magicite, which adds effects and comes in different rarities. Rarer magicite can provide stronger effects at a lower equipment cost, allowing for more flexible builds. One example shown is lightning mallet magicite, which adds bolts of lightning to hammer special attacks.
Faie’s Magic Lessons add optional minigames
Outside the main adventure, the game also includes Faie’s Magic Lessons, optional minigames unlocked by finding new fairy magic. These lessons reward players with records that can be used to listen to the in-game soundtrack in the Music menu. The examples shown include Sprint, where players race down a snowy slope ahead of an avalanche, and Warp, a lava-filled platforming challenge built around Faie’s movement abilities.
Collector’s Edition and pre-order bonuses confirmed
Square Enix also confirmed Collector’s Edition and Digital Deluxe Edition details. The Collector’s Edition includes the base game, Digital Deluxe content, a Faie and the Doorway of Time Tabletop Clock, and the original soundtrack.
Players who pre-order digitally or physically will receive Elliot’s Departure Pack, which includes the Departure Brooch accessory and Attack Up sword Magicite. The Digital Deluxe Edition adds three accessories: the Fairy Bangle, Cherry Blossom Anklet, and Roselle Ring.
