Owlcat Games has launched the closed beta for The Expanse: Osiris Reborn for founders on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Players who purchased the Collector’s Edition or Miller’s Pack through the game’s official website can now jump into the story-driven action RPG ahead of its planned Spring 2027 release.
The beta gives early supporters a first look at combat, zero-g movement, companion interactions, and life aboard a remote Pinkwater Security station.
A First Look at Life After Eros
Set in the universe of The Expanse, Osiris Reborn follows a Pinkwater Security mercenary who survives the catastrophe on Eros and begins building a team to fight back against Protogen and its experiments. While the game draws from the same setting as the books and TV series, Owlcat says the story will focus on its own characters and events.
In the closed beta, players can choose between a female character from the Belt or a male character from Earth, while also selecting either an officer or hacker specialization. The beta also introduces players to companion characters, including the protagonist’s sibling, J, and the mechanic, Zafar.
Dialogue, Combat, and Space Station Life
The beta takes place on a remote Pinkwater Security station, where players can talk with its inhabitants, test dialogue choices, and get a sense of daily life in a station populated by mercenaries. As the story progresses, players will also get to try the game’s combat systems and character upgrade mechanics when the people responsible for the attack on Eros catch up to them.
Owlcat says the final game will expand character creation further, with Mars joining Earth and the Belt as a playable background option, along with more customization and specialization options than are currently available in the beta.
Beta Runs Until Launch
The closed beta is now available on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S for players who bought qualifying founder packs. Owlcat says the beta will remain active until the game launches in Spring 2027.
The studio also noted that the beta is still a work in progress, so players should expect performance issues and other rough edges that will not be present in the final version. On console, Owlcat recommends playing on Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5 for the best experience.

The Expanse: Osiris Reborn is set to launch in Spring 2027 for PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG, along with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Wishlist options are available now.
