Valor Mortis appeared at the Triple-i Initiative with a new gameplay trailer and a confirmed Fall 2026 release window for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
Published by Lyrical Games and developed by One More Level, the first-person Soulslike is set in a supernatural version of 19th-century Europe, where a plague spreads across the continent in the aftermath of Napoleon Bonaparte’s conquest.
New trailer shows combat, traversal, and a new enemy
The new trailer offers a closer look at Valor Mortis’ first-person combat and movement systems. According to the reveal, players will have access to a grappling hook and wall-running, giving the game a faster traversal style as they move through dangerous environments and approach enemies from different angles.
The footage also highlights the Rapier, a precision-focused melee weapon built around timed parries and careful dodges. In addition, the trailer introduces The Orphan, a new enemy described as a Neftoglobin abomination that lurks in the city’s sewers.
A supernatural Napoleonic setting
In Valor Mortis, players take on the role of William, a resurrected soldier of the Grande Armée who is guided by Napoleon’s disembodied voice. The story unfolds across battlefields, mountains, and plague-stricken cities as William confronts the corruption spreading across Europe and through his own body.
The game combines Napoleonic-era weapons such as rapiers and pistols with supernatural abilities, while its exploration is built around mobility and environmental discovery.
One More Level’s next major project
Built in Unreal Engine 5, Valor Mortis is being positioned as One More Level’s most ambitious project so far. The studio, known for the Ghostrunner series, is bringing its experience with first-person movement into a Soulslike structure centered on stamina-based combat, parries, dashes, and finishers.
The game’s score is co-composed by Arkadiusz Reikowski, whose previous work includes Silent Hill 2 Remake, The Medium, and Layers of Fear, alongside in-house composer Oskar Bała.
Valor Mortis launches in Fall 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
