Plot Twist and Lyrical Games have announced that Erosion will hold a free Steam playtest from June 23-30. The time-looping roguelike was shown during The MIX showcase with a new trailer and is now planned for a full 1.0 launch in early 2027.
The studio also confirmed that it has shifted away from an Early Access release, with the upcoming playtest being used to gather feedback ahead of launch.
A Roguelike Where Death Moves Time Forward
Erosion follows a parent trying to rescue their kidnapped daughter from a mysterious living structure called the Pillar. Each death sends the world forward by 10 years, aging the daughter and changing the world around the player.
Players will explore voxel dungeons, fight arcade-inspired bosses, collect weapons, and choose different timelines while trying to rewrite the future.
Explore the Neon Wild West
Between dungeon runs, players can explore an open neon-west overworld filled with quests and faction choices. Activities include joining a cult, stealing vehicles, hunting bounties, racing trucks, and gambling at the Al Cashino.
Choices made across the wasteland can unlock permanent upgrades and shape factions over decades.
Weapons, Skills, and Timeline Builds
Inside the Pillar, players will collect weapons with distinct perks and playstyles, from blood-powered ritual bows to the Ebony Rooster, a gun that fires bouncing eggs.
The game will feature more than 100 skills and modifiers, giving players room to create different builds and experiment across runs.
Erosion launches in early 2027, with its Steam playtest running June 23-30.
