Lyrical Games and One More Level have released a new Valor Mortis story trailer during gamescom Opening Night Live, showing more of the first-person Soulslike ahead of its October 13 launch.
The game will arrive on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. It will also launch day one on Xbox Game Pass.
A Supernatural Napoleonic War
Valor Mortis reimagines the Napoleonic Wars through plague, resurrection, and gothic horror.
Players take on the role of William Dowsett, an English soldier who wakes on a battlefield with his memory fractured. A dark affliction now runs through his body, granting him power while placing Napoleon’s voice inside his mind.
The Shrike Enters the Fight
The trailer introduces The Shrike, a rebel leader fighting Napoleon’s Empire in occupied Eastern Europe.
She fights for the common people under imperial rule and has her own plans for William. As the story progresses, her voice joins Napoleon’s in William’s head, pulling him between loyalty and rebellion.
Cast Details Revealed
One More Level also shared several major characters from the story.
William Dowsett serves as the player character, while Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte is voiced by Vincent Cassel. James Stewart is William’s closest friend in the Legion and a skilled weaponsmith. Lucjan Skawiński is a Polish craftsman and war veteran who marks safe havens with handmade lamps.
The trailer also gives players another look at the game’s gothic areas, exploration, and boss encounters.
