Windrose Enters PC Early Access on April 14

Windrose will launch in Early Access on April 14 for Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Stove, developer Windrose Crew announced during the Triple-i Initiative showcase.

The co-op pirate survival-adventure game supports solo play or crews of up to four players, putting players in the role of a captain chasing revenge across a large open world filled with quests, naval combat, exploration, and base building.

A pirate survival adventure with land and sea gameplay

Set during the Age of Piracy, Windrose follows a captain who sets out to challenge Blackbeard in a story that grows into a wider conflict involving empires, pirate clans, and darker forces at sea.

The game blends exploration on land with ship-based travel and combat, allowing players to move between shore and sea as they take on quests, fight enemies, and uncover points of interest across a procedurally generated world.

Naval combat, co-op ship battles, and character progression

Windrose features ship combat built around cannon fire, boarding actions, and vessel customization. Players will be able to command different ship types, including a ketch, brig, and frigate, each suited to different playstyles.

The Early Access release also adds co-op ship battles, one of the most requested features from the game’s demo. This lets a crew share control of a ship’s weapons while working together in naval fights.

On land, players can build out their character using skill points, talents, and armor sets, while combat includes melee weapons, firearms, parries, dodges, and boss battles.

Building, crafting, and exploration across multiple biomes

Beyond combat, Windrose includes survival systems such as gathering resources, building structures, farming, fishing, and recruiting NPCs to help develop a settlement.

The game’s world includes three biomes and nearly 100 handcrafted points of interest, including dungeons, shipwrecks, temples, and abandoned camps, all spread across its broader procedural structure.

Early Access follows strong demo response

According to the team, Windrose is currently the 8th most-wishlisted game on Steam and previously drew more than 850,000 players during its Steam Next Fest demo.

The Early Access version is expected to include dozens of hours of content at launch.
