IO Interactive and Amazon MGM Studios have released the launch trailer for 007 First Light, the studio’s standalone James Bond origin story. The game launches on May 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version planned for Summer 2026.
Pre-orders are available now, with players who pre-order receiving a free upgrade to the Deluxe Edition, including 24-hour early access, in-game skins, and outfits.
A Reimagined James Bond Origin Story
007 First Light stars Patrick Gibson as James Bond, following the young spy as he catches MI6’s attention after an incident in Iceland. Bond gains support from M, played by Priyanga Burford, while facing pressure from former 00 agent and instructor John Greenway, played by Lennie James.
The story follows Bond across locations, including the Carpathian Mountains, the black market of Aleph, and the lair of Bawma, played by Lenny Kravitz, as the rogue return of 009 tests the 00 Program.
Stealth, Spycraft, Gadgets, and Combat
The game uses IO Interactive’s Creative Approach structure, letting players complete objectives through stealth, direct action, or a mix of both.
Players can eavesdrop, pickpocket, and search environments for clues through Spycraft. Bond’s Instinct can be used to lure enemies, bluff through suspicion, or improve combat precision, while Q Branch gadgets support hacking, lock cutting, distractions, eliminations, and quiet takedowns.
When stealth fails, combat shifts into close-quarters attacks and ranged gunplay.
TacSim Adds Replayable Challenges
Beyond the main story, 007 First Light includes Tactical Simulation (TacSim), a replay-focused mode set in an MI6 facility. The mode starts with the first two missions and becomes fully available after completing the game, adding scored missions, modifiers, and progression-based unlocks.
007 First Light launches May 27 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
