Ubisoft has shared new details on Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, focusing on how the remake updates Edward Kenway’s ground gameplay. The new deep dive is the first in a series of articles planned over the next several weeks.
The article features insight from Paul Fu, Creative Director on Resynced and a veteran developer from the original Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.
Parkour, Stealth, and Combat Rebuilt
According to Ubisoft, parkour, stealth, and combat in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced have been rebuilt from the ground up. The team is using recent franchise advancements, including Anvil engine technology developed for Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
Fu said the goal is to preserve the original game’s foundation while improving it into a modern action-adventure experience.
Edward Kenway Returns to Land
While Black Flag is often remembered for naval exploration and the Jackdaw, this first deep dive focuses on Edward’s movement and combat on land. Ubisoft says the remake will update how Edward moves through environments, approaches stealth encounters, and fights enemies, while keeping the original’s core identity intact.
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced launches July 9, 2026.
