Panache Digital Games has unveiled 1666: Amsterdam, a dark third-person story-led action-adventure game from creative director Patrice Désilets. The reveal arrived during Summer Game Fest with a new world premiere trailer.
A free playable prologue is available now on Steam and the Epic Games Store. The full game is planned to launch in Early Access on PC in 2026, with console versions planned for a later date.
A Dark Mystery Across Time
1666: Amsterdam takes place in a city shaped by wealth, power, and forces hidden beneath ordinary life.
The story centers on entities known as the Originals, who have lived among humanity for centuries. They were granted time and power, but that power now carries a debt.
Players follow Noa Brooklyn, born as the Collector and raised by the Zaindaris for a purpose she did not choose. Aaron, pulled from 1999, experiences the world through the eyes of a cat. Together, their stories begin to reveal a cycle that started long before Amsterdam became the city players will explore.
The Prologue Is Available Now
The free prologue lasts about 30 minutes and introduces the world, characters, and core mystery of 1666: Amsterdam.
Players step into Noa’s Commencement as she takes on the mantle of the Collector and begins to understand the role she was born to fulfill. Early in the experience, players must also choose a companion who will walk beside her.
Three Timelines, One Story
1666: Amsterdam unfolds across three timelines: 1666, 1999, and the present day.
Each era reveals pieces of a larger truth tied to hidden influence, old contracts, and the unseen forces shaping the world behind the world.
The game blends mystery, action-adventure structure, and narrative choice as players piece together what connects these time periods.
Patrice Désilets Returns With a New World
Creative Director Patrice Désilets said the project has been in development for six years with a team of nearly 70 developers in Montreal.
Désilets emphasized that the team focused on building a playable experience throughout development rather than relying on mock-up footage. He described the prologue as a small taste of the full project and an introduction to its characters, timelines, and world.
1666: Amsterdam is coming to PC in Early Access in 2026. Console versions are planned for a later date.
