Lanesplit has received a VR update today on PC via SteamVR, letting players take FunkyMouse’s traffic-weaving motorcycle sim into first-person virtual reality.
Revealed during the VR Games Showcase, the update launches alongside a free content drop for the base game, adding new bikes, more weather options, and playable riders inspired by real motorcycle creators.
High-Speed Riding in VR
Lanesplit puts players behind the handlebars as they weave through traffic, avoid sudden lane changes, and chase higher spots on the global leaderboards. The new VR support leans into the game’s first-person view, making every close call feel a bit more stressful.
The update expands the garage to accommodate 16 motorcycles, including two new electric bikes with different handling, speed, and traction characteristics. Thunderstorms have also been added, turning dry roads slick and making already risky traffic runs even harder to manage.
New Riders and Modes
Players can ride solo or jump into multiplayer with a custom rider. The update also adds playable characters modeled after real-life motorcycle personalities Brian636, CyborgAngel, and GhostRider, whose POV videos helped inspire the new content.
Rush Hour mode gives players a denser, more dangerous run through traffic, while Zen Mode strips away the chaos for empty-road riding.
Ragdolls, Drum-and-Bass, and Near Misses
Lanesplit keeps its arcade energy with a drum-and-bass soundtrack that ramps up alongside the speedometer. Crashes bring the music to a sudden stop as riders launch from their bikes with ragdoll physics.
Solo developer Shakya Ranatunga said the first-person camera already pushed the game toward flow-state riding, but VR takes that feeling further.
Lanesplit is available now on PC via Steam, with the VR update and free content update live today.
