Serenity Forge and Studio HazeDenki, the team behind Needy Girl Overdose, have officially revealed Sister Other Paranoia, a new dark visual novel steeped in psychological horror and surreal storytelling.
The announcement was accompanied by a debut trailer showcasing the game’s unsettling atmosphere and emotional themes.
A Mind Unraveling
Sister Other Paranoia follows a quiet first-year university student who possesses an unusual ability: he can perceive the emotional “colors” of the people around him.
Seeking refuge from his harsh parents and the frustrations of everyday life, he isolates himself in his room alongside his talented younger sister. The pair spend their days reading and working on his light novel, creating a small sanctuary away from the outside world.
That fragile peace begins to collapse as envy, hostility, and online harassment start to surround him. As pressure builds, the protagonist develops increasingly violent thoughts toward those he believes are responsible for his suffering.
A Dark Visual Novel Focused on Choice
Described as a surreal interactive animation presented through a visual novel format, Sister Other Paranoia leans heavily into retro horror and “denpa” influences, a Japanese subgenre known for psychological instability, paranoia, and distorted perceptions of reality.
Players will make key dialogue choices that determine how the protagonist reacts to the people around him. Those decisions gradually alter relationships and push characters toward multiple outcomes, many of which take disturbing turns.
The game focuses on psychological tension rather than traditional horror, exploring how resentment, isolation, and obsession can reshape a person’s worldview.
Anime Expo Appearance Planned
To celebrate the announcement, Serenity Forge will bring Sister Other Paranoia to Anime Expo from July 2-5.
Series creator Nyalra will attend, along with voice talent and members of the creative team behind the Needy Girl Overdose anime adaptation, currently available on Crunchyroll. The event will feature a dedicated panel, an autograph session, and exclusive merchandise for both Needy Girl Overdose and Sister Other Paranoia.
No release date has been announced yet, but fans of psychological horror and visual novels can expect more details in the months ahead.
