The Sinking City 2 Launches August 18, Steam Demo Available Now

Frogwares has announced that The Sinking City 2 will launch on August 18, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The release date was revealed during Summer Game Fest alongside a new trailer titled “Welcome to Arkham,” which premiered during the Future Games Show Summer Showcase.

The studio also surprise-released a one-hour playable demo on Steam, giving players an early look at its survival horror sequel.

Welcome to Arkham

The Sinking City 2 is set in a Lovecraftian version of 1920s America, centered on the flooded city of Arkham.

A supernatural flood has driven away most of the population, leaving behind deranged survivors, ruined streets, decaying mansions, abandoned hospitals, and eldritch creatures. Players take on the role of Calvin Rafferty, an occult adventurer whose past actions have caused serious consequences.

After a dreaming ritual goes wrong, Calvin’s girlfriend, Faye, becomes trapped in a mysterious sleep. To save her, he must travel through the drowned city and confront the horrors now roaming its streets.

A One-Hour Demo Is Live on Steam

The newly released Steam demo covers the opening hour of the full game.

Players can meet Calvin Rafferty, begin exploring Arkham, and get a first look at Frogwares’ shift toward a more survival-horror-focused experience. The demo also introduces the Slither, otherworldly creatures that possess and twist the dead into lethal walking puppets.

Survival Horror in a Drowned City

The Sinking City 2 focuses on survival, exploration, and resource management.

Players will fight eldritch creatures with 1920s-inspired weapons, scrounge for limited supplies, and manage a finite inventory while deciding what to carry and what to leave behind.

Exploration takes place on foot and by boat across flooded markets, rotting homes, and other ruined locations. Optional investigations and puzzles can reveal secrets, lore, upgrades, and additional context for Arkham’s collapse.

Frogwares Nears the Finish Line

Frogwares has been developing The Sinking City 2 since January 2023, with most of its 90-plus-person team based in Ukraine.

Head of Publishing Sergiy Oganesyan said the release date announcement marks a major milestone after years of development under the ongoing hardships caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The team has faced power outages, air raid sirens, staff disruptions, damaged homes, and shifting production plans, but says it is proud to have brought the game close to launch.

The Sinking City 2 launches August 18, 2026, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
