Serenity Forge and developer Studio Meadowflower have revealed Vivarium, a hand-drawn life sim adventure coming to PC and Xbox in 2027.
Announced during the Xbox Games Showcase 2026, Vivarium is being developed in collaboration with Crunchyroll and Shochiku Games. The game features hand-illustrated art inspired by classic anime and tells a cozy story with a darker mystery beneath the surface.
Life Inside a Tiny Terrarium Town
Vivarium follows Jenny, an energetic 11-year-old living in a small terrarium town.
At first, her life seems peaceful. She spends her days helping neighbors, following quiet routines, and enjoying a town removed from the pressure of modern life. As time passes, though, strange events begin to reveal that this perfect pocket world may not be what it seems.
Cozy Days and Quiet Nights
Each real-world day in Vivarium brings new story events and discoveries across its hand-painted overworld.
Main quests and major story moments move time forward, while nights give players free time at home. Jenny can tend her garden, cook recipes, decorate her house, read books, and listen to vinyl records.
Choices Shape the Terrarium
Vivarium mixes slice-of-life play with a branching narrative.
Player choices and conversations will affect the town, its people, and the world inside the terrarium. Those decisions can influence character stories and endings, giving the game replay value beyond its cozy daily life systems.
Vivarium launches in 2027 for PC and Xbox.
