Funcom has shared new details on Dune: Awakening ahead of its September 22 console launch, including single-player support, scalable difficulty, the finale to Book One, and a physical PlayStation 5 edition.
Already available on PC, the survival game set on Arrakis will arrive on PlayStation 5 and Xbox with the updates and additions Funcom has rolled out since launch, plus new console-focused changes.
Physical PS5 Edition Confirmed
The PlayStation 5 physical edition of Dune: Awakening will be available on September 22. Funcom is working with Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe for retail distribution in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, while Solutions 2 GO Inc. will handle North and South America.
The physical PS5 release includes the base game on disc. For a limited time, it also includes the Terrarium of Muad’Dib base decoration and a global color swatch.
Digital pre-orders remain available on PlayStation Store and Xbox Store. Pre-ordering any digital edition includes the same Terrarium of Muad’Dib and color swatch bonuses, while Deluxe and Ultimate Edition pre-orders also include a five-day head start.
Single-Player and Scalable Difficulty
The September release will let players experience the full game solo. Single-player and private server options will also include customization settings for combat difficulty, harvesting rates, experience gain, and other gameplay elements.
Funcom says the console versions will feature controls and UI built for console play, with a 60 FPS target on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X through Performance Mode.
Book One Gets Its Finale
The console launch also brings the final chapter of Book One, giving players a complete version of Dune: Awakening’s main cinematic story from start to finish.
New players on console and PC will also get access to post-launch additions from the PC version, including optional PvP, a larger late-game loop, new missions, new locations, and quality-of-life updates.
