THQ Nordic and Campfire Cabal have released a new Expeditions: Samurai trailer focused on the RPG’s companions, while also confirming that the game will launch into Steam Early Access on August 7, 2026.
The trailer introduces several allies players will meet after arriving in Japan aboard the Albatros, each bringing their own skills, personality, and questline.
Build Your Flynn
In Expeditions: Samurai, players take on the role of a member of the Flynn family. You can choose their first name, customize their appearance, and pick from four classes.
From there, the game sends you into a dangerous version of Japan filled with political tension, combat, and uneasy alliances.
Eight Companions Join the Crew
Expeditions: Samurai will feature eight companions. The new trailer spotlights characters such as Antje, a burglar skilled in stealth and lockpicking; Johan, a proud swordsman related to the late captain; Tora-Hime, an Onna-Musha trying to claim her place in history; and Étienne Durand, a priest who serves as one of the crew’s strongest diplomatic voices.
Each companion has a personal story and dedicated quest chain. Players can earn their trust, strengthen bonds, and potentially build deeper relationships along the way.
Early Access Begins in August
Expeditions: Samurai enters Steam Early Access on August 7. Before launch, Campfire Cabal plans to share a roadmap covering what players can expect at Early Access release and what updates will follow.
Expeditions: Samurai is available to wishlist now on Steam.
