Sponge Break Launches July 30 With Co-op Rafting Chaos

Goose Byte Games and Balor Games have announced that Sponge Break will launch on July 30, 2026, for PC via Steam. The co-op rafting game will cost $7.99 and lets up to four players guide a fragile raft down violent rapids after escaping the kitchen sink.

The game has already picked up traction online, with more than 26 million views across streaming and social platforms and over 500,000 minutes played during its playtest.

Sponges Against the Rapids

In Sponge Break, players control a group of sponges trying to stay afloat without getting soaked.

Each team needs to work together to keep its raft moving, avoid hazards, and survive attacks from wildlife. Players are armed with a plunger-hook, consumable items, and proximity chat, which should make communication as messy as the river itself.

Physics, Puzzles, and Panic

Sponge Break builds its comedy around physics-driven co-op. Players will need to solve puzzles, manage the raft, dodge obstacles, and react to whatever the river throws at them.

The setup is simple: keep the raft intact and don’t get wet. Actually doing that sounds like the hard part.

Playtest Ends July 28

Players can try Sponge Break before launch by joining the official playtest, which runs until July 28.

Sponge Break launches July 30 on Steam for $7.99.
