Spike Chunsoft has announced the Steins;Gate Re:Boot Digital Deluxe Edition for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Steam.
The Digital Deluxe Edition will include the full Steins;Gate Re:Boot game, a digital visual book, a digital soundtrack, and footage from the “Steins;Gate 15th Live – One World -” live event with English subtitles.
Octet of Shifting Space Gets New Details
Spike Chunsoft also shared new details on Steins;Gate Octet of Shifting Space, an 80s PC-style adventure inspired by the idea of recreating Steins;Gate on vintage computer hardware.
Originally released for Windows PCs in 2011, Octet of Shifting Space will be available on consoles and Steam for the first time. The updated release will support software keyboards and USB keyboards on modern platforms.
Text Commands Return
Rather than using standard visual novel choices, Steins;Gate Octet of Shifting Space uses text parser gameplay inspired by early adventure games.
Players take on the role of Rintaro Okabe as he searches Akihabara with the lab members after the IBN 5100 is stolen again. Progress comes from typing English commands, reading scenes, and figuring out the right actions to move forward.
A Throwback to Classic PC Adventure Games
Octet of Shifting Space also recreates the look of old PC adventure games, including screen-drawing visuals where images appear line by line before color fills them in. Players who prefer a quicker pace can skip the drawing animation with a button press.
The game will include multiple graphics modes inspired by 1980s PCs, ranging from 8-color digital RGB visuals to green monochrome monitor-style presentation. Composer Takeshi Abo handled the music, which recreates FM synthesis and PSG-style sound.
More Details Coming Later
Spike Chunsoft will share details at a later date on how players can get Steins;Gate Octet of Shifting Space for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Steam.
