Arc Games and Thekla have announced that Order of the Sinking Star will launch on October 8 for PC via Steam, Steam Deck, Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 5.
The puzzle adventure, led by Jonathan Blow, known for The Witness and Braid, has been in development for 10 years.
More Than 1,000 Handcrafted Puzzles
Order of the Sinking Star features more than 1,000 handcrafted puzzles spread across four connected regions.
The game lets players move at their own pace, so a hard puzzle in one area doesn’t block progress everywhere else. Players can move to another region, test a different set of mechanics, and return later.
A Cast of Unlikely Heroes
The story follows a motley crew that includes a queen, a thief, a warrior, a wizard, and a talking boat.
Each character brings different abilities that affect puzzle-solving and exploration. As their paths cross, the game introduces new mechanics and changes how players approach each challenge.
Puzzle Designers From Across the Genre
Jonathan Blow said Order of the Sinking Star came together with help from a wide group of puzzle designers.
Contributors include Alan Hazelden, Sean Barrett, Jonah Ostroff, Zach Polansky, Patrick Traynor, Marc ten Bosch, and others. Thekla also notes that some design contributions came from Twitch followers over the years.
Demo Available Now
A Steam demo is available now, and progress will carry over to the full game at launch.
Order of the Sinking Star is available to wishlist now on Steam, Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 5 ahead of its October 8 release.
