Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy VII Revelation will launch April 8, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
The release date was revealed during PlayStation’s State of Play broadcast alongside a new trailer and an extended gameplay deep dive.
Highwind Takes Flight
Final Fantasy VII Revelation closes out Square Enix’s remake trilogy with Cloud and the party racing to stop Meteor as Sephiroth nears godhood.
The new footage shows players exploring an open planet aboard the Highwind airship. Piko the Chocobo also returns and can grow alongside the party, gaining new traversal and combat abilities over time.
Cid, Vincent, and FITS
The gameplay deep dive showed new playable characters, Cid and Vincent.
Square Enix also detailed the FITS system, which grants abilities tied to specialized roles such as Warrior, Knight, Black Mage, and Summoner. The footage showed Cid using the Knight FITS and Vincent using the Summoner FITS.
Players can also swap their active character and party makeup while exploring. A new grappling gun lets characters scale rooftops and move through areas faster.
Quest Choices Can Change Events
Final Fantasy VII Revelation will let players choose which party members take on certain quests.
Those choices can affect how some events and scenarios play out, giving players more control over how they experience the finale.
Pre-Orders and Editions
Physical and digital pre-orders are open now, though digital Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders will open later.
The standard edition is priced at $69.99. The digital Premium Edition costs $99.99 and includes the Story Expansion Pass, 24-hour early access, the Reclaimant Choker, and a Survival Set.
The digital Premium Plus Edition costs $109.99 and adds a digital mini soundtrack, digital artbook, Polydroid Alexander Summoning Materia, Nymphwing Bracelet armor, and Risk Taker’s Choker.
Physical Deluxe and Collector’s Editions are also planned. The Collector’s Edition is exclusive to the Square Enix Store and includes a premium statue featuring Cloud, Zack, and Sephiroth, plus the Story Expansion Pass and other in-game items.
Story DLC Planned
The Story Expansion Pass grants access to two story-focused DLCs planned for later release.
Square Enix says the DLCs will feature Sephiroth and Vincent & the Turks.
Trilogy Edition Also Announced
Square Enix also announced the digital Final Fantasy VII Remake Series Trilogy Edition for $84.99.
This version gives players immediate access to Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, plus the Mecha-Chocobo & Moogle Summon Materia pre-order bonus for Final Fantasy VII Revelation.
Save Data Bonuses
Players with save data from Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade can receive Chocobo & Moogle Summon Materia and a FFVII Remake Weapon Skin Set.
Players with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth save data can receive Phoenix Summon Materia and a FFVII Rebirth Weapon Skin Set.
