Stupid Never Dies built its identity around music before the rest of the game took shape. Sega and developer GpTrack50 have released Deep Bite #3: Sound, a new video featuring producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi discussing the action RPG’s pop-punk influences and dynamic soundtrack.
The game launches October 21, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam, with a Japanese release following October 22. Its First Bite demo is available now on both platforms.
Davy’s Theme Song Helped Shape the Game
GpTrack50 began with protagonist Davy’s theme song, using it to guide the game’s tone rather than adding music at the end of development.
Davy’s story starts with a boy-meets-girl setup, prompting the team to draw on the pop-punk songs they loved growing up. That sound became a way to express the excitement of young love.
The developers then considered what music the other characters and enemies might make. The resulting soundtrack incorporates metal, rock, electronic music, and traditional Japanese instruments and motifs—an approach the team calls “Neo Pop Punk.”
Music Changes With the Action
The soundtrack shifts alongside gameplay as Davy explores KOM’s domain, moving between tense exploration, energetic battles, and quieter resting spots.
His home base, Davy’s Mall, takes a calmer approach with lo-fi beats accompanying preparations for the next outing.
Official music videos also offer an early listen to the opening theme, Stupid Never Dies, and ending theme, Restless, Reckless, Never Die, Fearless.
Eat Enemy Powers and Upgrade Your Undead Body
Stupid Never Dies follows Davy, a timid zombie at the bottom of monster society, as he tries to bring a frozen human girl named Julia back to life.
His Style Eat ability repairs his body and absorbs enemy powers, with more than 11 styles available. Equipment called Over Technology lets you modify his arms, legs, and head between dungeon runs.
Each run starts Davy at level one, but enemies defeated in previous attempts increase his growth rate and experience gains, speeding up progression on later runs.
October 21 Launch and Editions
Stupid Never Dies launches October 21 on PS5 and Steam. The Standard Edition costs $49.99, while the Glorious Idiot Edition costs $59.99.
The game features English voice acting and subtitles in 13 languages. You can try the First Bite demo now on Steam and PlayStation 5.
