Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis will launch for PlayStation 5 on February 12, 2027, bringing Lara Croft’s first adventure back as a full reimagining of the 1996 original Tomb Raider.
Crystal Dynamics is developing the game alongside Flying Wild Hog, with the project built in Unreal Engine 5. A new State of Play trailer showed updated gameplay, including expanded environments, modern combat, new puzzle design, and a fresh look at some of the original game’s most familiar locations.
Lara Returns to Where the Legend Began
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis revisits the adventure that introduced Lara Croft nearly 30 years ago. The game keeps the core structure of the original while rebuilding its locations with new visuals, an expanded soundscape, and updated systems for exploration, puzzle-solving, and combat.
Players will return to Peru’s Lost Valley, the ruins of Greece, and other key locations from Lara’s first expedition. Crystal Dynamics says the goal is to preserve the adventure fans remember while reshaping it with modern design and new surprises.
Peru’s Lost Valley Has Been Rebuilt
One of the biggest changes comes through the design of Peru’s Lost Valley. Instead of moving players through a chain of self-contained rooms, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis opens the area into semi-connected spaces that can be explored from different angles.
Puzzles have also been rebuilt around these expanded environments. Returning challenges, including the cog puzzle, have been redesigned to feel grounded in the surrounding space rather than standing apart as isolated puzzle rooms.
The area also includes secrets, collectibles, and resources for players who take time to explore.
