Annapurna Interactive and developer Third Shift have announced that Forever Ago will launch on October 8, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam, Xbox, and the Epic Games Store.
The announcement arrived alongside a new trailer showcasing the game’s emotional road trip narrative and the scenic locations players will explore throughout Alfred’s journey.
A Journey Toward Redemption
Forever Ago is a third-person narrative adventure centered on Alfred, a man struggling with the aftermath of a personal tragedy. Setting out in his trusty minivan with an instant camera in hand, Alfred travels north in search of new experiences, meaningful connections, and a path toward healing.
As players guide Alfred across the country, they’ll encounter a variety of landscapes ranging from peaceful forests and deserts to mountain vistas. Along the way, they’ll meet new people, uncover stories from the past, and slowly piece together Alfred’s own journey of self-discovery.
Exploring Through Photography
Photography plays a central role in Forever Ago. Alfred’s instant camera serves as more than a way to document his travels. Players will use photographs to preserve memories, examine their surroundings, and solve environmental puzzles tied to the locations they visit.
The mechanic encourages players to slow down and appreciate the details of the world while uncovering clues about the people and places that shape Alfred’s adventure.
An Emotional Story Backed by an Acclaimed Soundtrack
Forever Ago explores themes of love, grief, forgiveness, and redemption through a deeply personal story. Supporting that experience is an original soundtrack composed by Clark Aboud, known for his work on Slay the Spire.
The combination of scenic exploration, photography-driven gameplay, and emotional storytelling aims to deliver a reflective journey that stays with players long after the credits roll.
Forever Ago launches October 8, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
