Dispatch HR Violations Pack Update Restores Content on Nintendo Switch

AdHoc Studios has released a free update for Dispatch titled The HR Violations Pack, addressing player concerns surrounding censorship in the Nintendo Switch version of the game. The update is now available across all platforms and introduces new content filtering options, including a particularly chaotic mode that swaps traditional censorship methods for more absurd visual replacements.

According to the development team, the update stems directly from feedback received following the game’s Switch launch earlier this year. In a lengthy community post, AdHoc Studios acknowledged that Switch players received a version of Dispatch that was more heavily censored than many expected and admitted the studio did not clearly communicate those differences before launch.

Why Dispatch Was Censored on Switch

The studio explained that, during the final stages of development, it learned the game would require censorship across all Nintendo regions rather than only a handful of territories as originally anticipated. Facing limited time and resources, the team chose to create a single Switch build that complied with Nintendo’s strictest regional requirements. That decision resulted in a version that differed significantly from the PlayStation and PC releases.

AdHoc stated that the biggest issue wasn’t simply the censorship itself, but the lack of transparency about those differences before players purchased the game.

What the HR Violations Pack Changes

The new update restores a significant amount of previously censored content for Nintendo Switch players in North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. According to the developers, players can now view previously hidden nudity and obscene gestures that were removed from the original release.

Some restrictions remain due to Nintendo requirements, including censorship of genitalia and the muting of specific dream sequence audio involving Invisigal.

To handle the remaining content restrictions, the update adds several censorship styles, including:

  • Traditional black bars
  • Mosaic censorship
  • Chaotic mode featuring intentionally ridiculous visual replacements

The latter includes humorous alternatives such as strategically placed clothing items and other comedic cover-ups.

Available Across All Platforms

While the update primarily addresses concerns from Switch players, the new censorship options are also available on PlayStation 5 and Steam, where the uncensored presentation remains the default. Xbox players will receive the same options when Dispatch launches on the platform later this summer.

The HR Violations Pack is available now as a free update for Dispatch.
