Dotemu has surprise-released Blasterbug: Last Bug Standing! on Steam, giving players a free local multiplayer party game built around bugs, bombs, and fast arcade chaos.
The launch trailer debuted during the Pixel Arcadia retro showcase, and the game is now available to download for free.
Eight-Player Local Multiplayer
Blasterbug: Last Bug Standing! supports local multiplayer for up to eight players.
Players pick from 15 bug heroes and battle across changing arenas using Pome-Grenande, special attacks, and stage hazards. Each character has dedicated gameplay traits and attacks to learn.
Five Modes at Launch
The game includes five modes at launch: Death Battle, Coin Battle, Crown Battle, Paint Battle, and Party Battle.
Party Battle mixes all playable modes together, while the other modes focus on survival, money, possession, or area control. Matches are built for short rounds and quick rematches.
15 Arenas With Hazards
Blasterbug: Last Bug Standing! includes 15 arenas, each with its own twist.
Players can trap rivals in Bugville, deal with currents in the Sewers, or avoid a giant spoon in the Kitchen. Dotemu says the game draws from arcade-style action classics while adding special attacks and level modifiers.
Absolum DLC Available Now
The free launch also comes with the paid Blasterbug: Last Bug Standing! Absolum Pack DLC.
The pack adds Galandra from Absolum as a playable character, along with the Jaroba arena. Galandra uses her massive sword and Necrotic Wave ability to crush opponents.
The Absolum Pack is available now for $1.99, while Blasterbug: Last Bug Standing! is free on Steam.
