Capcom Reveals Switch 2 Updates for Monster Hunter, Mega Man, and Resident Evil

Capcom shared new Nintendo Switch 2 updates during today’s Nintendo Showcase, with news for Monster Hunter Wilds, Mega Man: Dual Override, and Resident Evil.

The lineup includes a December Switch 2 release for Monster Hunter Wilds, Proto Man gameplay for Mega Man: Dual Override, and three Resident Evil remakes coming to the console in October.

Monster Hunter Wilds Comes to Switch 2

Monster Hunter Wilds launches for Nintendo Switch 2 on December 4, 2026.

The Switch 2 release includes all Title Update content, including the Grand Hub, returning monster Lagiacrus, and the Final Fantasy XIV Online collaboration. Players can hunt with other Switch 2 owners through local wireless play, or go online with full cross-play support.

The Standard Edition will cost $39.99 on the Nintendo eShop. A Gold Edition with the base game and cosmetic DLC will cost $79.99.

Digital pre-orders begin October 19, with an early adopter discount dropping the Standard Edition to $29.99 until December 3. A physical Deluxe Edition, which includes the base game and Deluxe Pack cosmetics, will also cost $39.99.

Capcom also confirmed that a free Prologue Demo will arrive before launch.

Ascendance Heads to Switch 2 in 2027

Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, the game’s large expansion, is planned for Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027.

More details will be shared later.

Proto Man Joins Mega Man: Dual Override

Capcom also showed the first gameplay footage of Proto Man in Mega Man: Dual Override.

Proto Man joins Mega Man as a second playable character. While Mega Man focuses on ranged attacks, Proto Man uses close-range combat and a heat gauge that players will need to manage during fights.

Both characters can use the Override system to push their abilities past normal limits for a short time. Players can also use the Custom Chip system to equip upgrades and build out their preferred playstyle.

New Mega Man Amiibo Revealed

Capcom revealed new Mega Man and Proto Man amiibo figures alongside the Nintendo Showcase update.

Details on amiibo functionality and release timing will be shared later.

Mega Man: Dual Override launches in Spring 2027 for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store.

Resident Evil Remakes Hit Switch 2 in October

Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition launch for Nintendo Switch 2 on October 16.

Pre-orders and early adopter discounts are available now.

Resident Evil 2 follows Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield through the Raccoon City outbreak. Resident Evil 3 follows Jill Valentine during the beginning and end of the same disaster. Resident Evil 4 sends Leon on a mission to rescue the president’s daughter six years later.

Capcom says the releases mean every mainline Resident Evil game, including Resident Evil Requiem and the upcoming Resident Evil Veronica, will be playable on Nintendo Switch 2.
