Square Enix had a packed Nintendo Direct showing, with a Romancing SaGa 3 remake, a new Dragon Quest Monsters demo, and two shadow drops leading the lineup.
The announcements include Crisis Core –Final Fantasy VII– Reunion on Nintendo Switch 2, Dragon Quest Heroes: Torneko’s Mystery Dungeon -Classic HD- on multiple platforms, a demo for Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World, and Romancing SaGa 3: Destinies United launching in February.
Crisis Core Hits Nintendo Switch 2
Crisis Core –Final Fantasy VII– Reunion is now available on Nintendo Switch 2.
The game follows Zack Fair in the events that lead into Final Fantasy VII, arriving ahead of Final Fantasy VII Revelation. This version includes HD character models, updated backgrounds and UI, English and Japanese voice acting, and a revised action-combat system with Limit Breaks and Summons.
Square Enix is offering the game at 30% off for a limited time, with the discount ending September 23, 2026, at 11:59 PM local time.
Dragon Quest Monsters Demo Available Now
A free demo for Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World is available now on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam, and Xbox on PC.
The demo covers the game’s first chapter and introduces its cast, battle system, monster synthesis, and exploration. Players can transfer up to eight recruited monsters into the full game when it launches December 3, 2026.
The full game will feature over 500 new and returning monsters, with dual protagonists Bianca and Nera working to restore Witherwood.
Romancing SaGa 3 Remake Launches in February
Romancing SaGa 3: Destinies United launches February 16, 2027, for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam, and Xbox on PC.
The full HD remake comes from the teams behind Trials of Mana and Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven. It keeps the series’ Freeform Scenario system, where player choices shape the story path, while adding HD visuals, voiced event scenes in English and Japanese, and music from Kenji Ito.
Players choose between eight heroes tied to the Rise of Morastrum, a cosmic cycle that returns every 300 years. After the Four Sinistrals return, players can choose which lands to visit, which stories to follow, and when to confront each major threat.

Torneko’s Mystery Dungeon Gets a Classic HD Release
Dragon Quest Heroes: Torneko’s Mystery Dungeon -Classic HD- is now available on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
The game is an HD remaster of the 1993 Dragon Quest spin-off that had not previously been released outside Japan. It follows Torneko from Dragon Quest IV as he tries to build the greatest item shop around.
The remaster includes HD visuals, a new opening video, quality-of-life updates, and Steam-exclusive interactive streaming features.
