Hoshin Engi Re:surrection Announced for 2027

Shueisha Games and Lastwonder have announced Hoshin Engi Re:surrection, a hand-drawn roguelite action game coming to Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam in 2027.

The game picks up after the ending of Ryu Fujisaki’s Hoshin Engi manga and stars Toshin, a new hero drawn by Fujisaki himself.

A New Story After the Manga

Hoshin Engi ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1996 to 2000 and has sold 22 million print copies.

Re:surrection tells a new story set after the manga, with Toshin and his spirit beast partner Chuchue Doji heading out under Taikobo’s command to face a new threat.

Longtime readers will recognize characters like Taikobo, Supushan, Yozen, Nataku, and Koh Tenka, while newcomers can jump in.

Dungeons Built for Repeat Runs

Players descend into dungeons that change with each run.

Each venture sends Toshin across branching island routes, with rewards shown in advance so players can choose paths based on combat needs, upgrades, and risk.

Secret Arts appear at random during a run, while materials brought back to the hub can unlock permanent upgrades for Toshin and individual Paope.

Paope Shape the Combat

Combat centers on Paope, mythic treasures tied to gods and immortals.

Players equip a Main Paope for core attacks and a Sub Paope to adjust battle flow. Upgrading them can unlock evolved attacks, giving players a range of build options across runs.

Chuchue Doji Joins the Fight

Chuchue Doji can fight beside Toshin on the ground, defending him and disrupting enemies.

Players can also mount Chuchue Doji to take to the air, dodge attacks, and strike enemies from above.

Manga Panels in Motion

Hoshin Engi Re:surrection is animated to look like Fujisaki’s manga pages brought to life.

The game launches in 2027 for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Steam.
