Sega and GpTrack50 have released a new Stupid Never Dies video focused on the action RPG’s combat systems ahead of its October 21 launch.
Titled Deep Bite #1: Action, the video features Director Eiichiro Sasaki explaining how Davy’s undead status, Style Eat, Body Hack, Davy Burst, and stacking XP bonuses shape each run.
Being Dead Has Its Advantages
Davy is already a zombie, so taking damage works a little differently from the usual action RPG setup.
Rather than constantly worrying about survival, players can attack aggressively and keep fighting after taking punishment. The system encourages relentless offense as Davy pushes deeper into KOM’s domain.
Eat Enemy Styles
Davy gains new abilities through Style Eat, which lets him chomp on enemies known as beats and absorb their fighting styles.
Those stolen abilities expand his combat options as he progresses, giving players additional ways to attack enemies and build out Davy’s moveset.
Rebuild Davy With Body Hack
Players can also collect advanced technology and take it to Acelino’s body shop.
The Body Hack system lets players modify Davy’s undead body with upgrades, strengthening him as the campaign continues.
Davy can also build energy during combat to activate Davy Burst, his ultimate attack.
XP Bonuses Keep Stacking
Each descent into the depths lets Davy accumulate XP bonuses.
Those bonuses can raise his power quickly during a run, giving combat an escalating pace as players defeat enemies and push farther ahead.
First Bite Demo Available Now
Players can try Stupid Never Dies: First Bite now on PlayStation 5 and Steam.
The full game follows Davy, a timid zombie at the bottom of monster society, as he tries to revive Julia, a frozen human girl. Along the way, he steals enemy abilities, modifies his body, and fights through a dungeon ruled by monsters.
Stupid Never Dies launches October 21, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam. The Standard Edition costs $49.99, while the Glorious Idiot Edition costs $59.99.
