SEGA and RGG Studio have released a new Stranger Than Heaven trailer inspired by the Japanese crime film series Battles Without Honor and Humanity.
Created in collaboration with Toei Company, the video draws from the films through its music, editing, and visual presentation ahead of Stranger Than Heaven’s January 15, 2027 release.
A Tribute to Battles Without Honor and Humanity
The new video pays direct tribute to Toei’s Battles Without Honor and Humanity series, which starred Bunta Sugawara.
Rather than presenting the game through a conventional gameplay trailer, RGG Studio uses filmmaking techniques modeled after the crime films to frame Stranger Than Heaven’s cast and setting.
Toei Collaborates With RGG Studio
Toei worked with SEGA and RGG Studio on the trailer.
The collaboration incorporates music and stylistic touches inspired by Battles Without Honor and Humanity, alongside editing meant to recall the film series.
It marks another unusual promotional piece for Stranger Than Heaven as RGG Studio continues showing different sides of the upcoming action-adventure.
