Akemi works alongside the fearless Detective Zomby and the much more serious Yasu Tamura as the group tries to figure out what’s happening in Shimofuri Village.
The investigation mixes visual novel storytelling with interviews, clue gathering, and puzzle-solving.
Players will update Yasu’s investigative journal as they gather testimony and evidence needed to piece together the case.
Zombie Dive Reveals Hidden Information
Akemi’s Zombie Dive ability lets her examine people and objects for information unavailable through ordinary investigation.
Players can use the ability on suspects and objects ranging from museum displays to beetles, opening new leads and exposing hidden motives.
The game also lets players reconstruct the case by connecting testimony and clues gathered throughout the investigation.
Being Undead Has Its Advantages
Akemi’s condition gives her investigative options that would be a terrible idea for most detectives.
She can drink poison to test a theory, spend a night inside a freezer, and even remove her own head when a case calls for it.
The story mixes those absurd situations with heavier themes surrounding tradition, changing values, and the history of Shimofuri Village.
