Hela: of Mice & Magic has released a limited-time PC demo, offering a first taste of its mouse-sized exploration and magical puzzles. Publisher Knights Peak and developer Windup Games have made the demo available on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the Xbox PC app, with full support for the Steam Deck.
The demo also joins Steam Next Fest ahead of the game’s December 1, 2026, release and day-one arrival on Xbox Game Pass.
Explore a Map Built Specifically for the Demo
Rather than taking a section directly from the full adventure, the demo introduces a bespoke map inspired by northern Sweden.
You’ll help restore a witch’s protective warding magic and collect enough Glimmer to find a route back to her home. Along the way, you can explore freely, help creatures, and solve environmental puzzles using physics-based interactions and the magical Froggy pack.
The backpack expands your mouse’s traversal options, helping you reach higher places and interact with your surroundings.
Play in Split-Screen or Summon Help Solo
The demo supports single-player exploration and local split-screen co-op.
If you’re playing alone, the Shade System lets you summon magical copies of your mouse to help overcome obstacles and solve more involved challenges.
The full game follows a small mouse as it assists a witch who has protected the land for generations, with environments including forests, meadows, wetlands, and burrows.
