Rain98 Releases Three-Hour Steam Demo, Adds Mamiko Noto to Cast

Rain98 has released a free Steam demo offering approximately three hours of its lo-fi psychological suspense adventure. Developer C#4R4CT3R also shared a new trailer during The Mix Fall Game Showcase and announced Mamiko Noto as the voice of Kyoko Yose.

The demo covers the story’s opening through the first half of Chapter 2, ahead of the full game’s planned 2027 release.

Share an Apartment With Reina in 1998 Tokyo

After being mysteriously transported back to 1998, you meet Reina Amehara, a woman who claims she can end everything. Voiced by Rio Tsuchiya, Reina is unimpressed by what you tell her about the future.

Your days together combine visual novel scenes and dialogue choices with exploration, collectibles, and minigames. The demo lets you spend time in a shared apartment, take odd jobs to cover living expenses, and walk through rainy Shibuya.

Blue lighting, rainfall, and a lo-fi soundtrack provide a comfortable backdrop, though Reina’s secrets threaten that quieter routine.

Mamiko Noto Voices the Mysterious Kyoko Yose

Mamiko Noto joins the cast as Kyoko Yose, appearing in both the trailer and demo.

Noto’s credits include Sawako Kuronuma in Kimi ni Todoke: From Me to You, Ai Enma in Hell Girl, and Prospera Mercury in Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury. Details about Kyoko’s role in the story remain under wraps.

More Demo Content Is Planned

Unlike earlier event demos that began partway through the story, this public version starts at the beginning and includes the opening movie. It supports nine languages, including English and Japanese.

A future update will add the second half of Chapter 2. The full game is expected to span seven chapters and take roughly 10–15 hours to complete.

You can download the Rain98 demo and wishlist the full game on Steam.
