Yomawari: The Long Night Collection and Yomawari: Lost in the Dark are available now on PlayStation 5. Nis America’s survival horror releases bring three stories to the console, following young protagonists as they try to survive nighttime encounters with spirits inspired by Japanese folklore and urban legends.
The Long Night Collection includes Yomawari: Night Alone and Yomawari: Midnight Shadows. Lost in the Dark offers a separate story about a girl searching for the memories she needs to break a curse.
The Long Night Collection Pairs Two Horror Adventures
In Yomawari: Night Alone, you guide a young girl as she searches for her missing sister. Midnight Shadows follows schoolgirls Yui and Haru as they face the dangers haunting a rural Japanese town.
Exploration involves searching for hidden items and learning how to deal with the spirits you encounter. Collected objects can help you interact with creatures or trigger additional story events. Not every spirit has the same intentions, so recognizing what you’re dealing with matters.
When a hostile presence approaches, you can move quietly, run, hide in bushes, or use items as distractions. Some spirits move quickly enough to make a careless escape attempt costly, putting attention and timing at the center of survival.
Lost in the Dark Adds a New Way to Hide
Yomawari: Lost in the Dark casts you as a cursed girl who must search her town after dark to recover her lost memories. A flashlight helps you inspect your surroundings and find clues, while your heartbeat warns you of nearby ghosts.
Alongside running and hiding, you can close your eyes to avoid the gaze of watching spirits. That gives you another way to respond to danger, though it also means shutting out your view of the threat.
Lost in the Dark also introduces appearance customization to the series. You can change the protagonist’s hairstyle, hair color, clothing, and accessories before facing the town’s nighttime horrors.
Three Stories Available Across Two PS5 Releases
The two releases offer different starting points: The Long Night Collection packages the earlier pair of adventures, while Lost in the Dark follows its own protagonist and curse.
