Electronic Arts to Exclusively Develop Star Wars Video Games

Star-Wars-The-Old-Republic1

Following the closure of Lucasarts, Electronic Arts and Disney has reached an “multi-year exclusive licensing agreement” to develop and publish new Star Wars video games. The publisher has tasked their “top three studios” (DICE, Visceral, and Bioware) to develop new Star Wars games with “all new stories and gameplay,” stating that the deal is not necessarily tied to film adaptations.

Frank Gibeau, EA Labels President, mentions that all Electronic Arts developed Star Wars games will use the Frostbite 3 development engine, which is currently the main engine for the upcoming Battlefield 4, Dragon Age: Inquisitions, and the next Mass Effect title.
