GDC Picks Inscryption as Game of the Year

During tonight’s 22nd annual Game Developers Choice Awards, the prestigious Game of the Year award was given to Daniel Mullins Games’s Inscryption.

The deckbuilding roguelike wasn’t alone in its success, as other big winners at the show included Psychonauts 2, Ratchet & Clank: Rift ApartUnpacking, and Valheim, with Dragon Quest creator Yuji Hori winning the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Katie Stern, VP of Entertainment Media at Informa Tech and overseer of GDC, commented on the awards:

It’s always wonderful to be able to honor these individuals, who have created some of the most innovative and entertaining games from the past year, but it’s been extra special to be able to hold the awards ceremony in person again tonight. The return of the Game Developers Choice Awards and GDC to the Moscone made this a memorable evening that we were delighted to share with such talented people.

If you’ve never played Inscryption and are unsure of whether you’d like it, be sure to check out our review of the game (we liked it quite a bit.)
