Playdigious Originals just turned up the volume on Fretless – The Wrath of Riffson with the announcement that guitar phenoms Yvette Young and Mary Spender are joining the game’s stacked soundtrack. The musical turn-based RPG hits PC via Steam on May 22, and players can check out a free demo right now.
Young and Spender join previously announced artists Rabea Massaad, Cult of Luna, Davie504, Northlane, and Andrew Huang, making Fretless a sonic powerhouse for experimental, metal, and prog rock fans.
Meet the New Additions
Yvette Young, frontwoman of math rock band Covet, is known for her emotive two-handed tapping technique and lush, ambient soundscapes that blur the lines between rock and classical music.
Mary Spender brings a blend of bluesy soul, singer-songwriter finesse, and tech-savvy storytelling to the table. Known for her popular YouTube presence and genre-hopping compositions, she adds a grounded, lyrical flavor to the OST.
What Is Fretless?
In Fretless – The Wrath of Riffson, players become Rob, a heroic musician fighting to free the world from the control of Rick Riffson, CEO of Super Metal Records. Riffson’s plan? Use the Battle of the Bands to capture musicians’ souls and monopolize music itself.
With guitar in hand, Rob will explore a vibrant world, team up with fellow rockstars, and unleash crescendo attacks against bizarre musical enemies like mutant instrument beasts and corrupted legends.
Coming to Steam on May 22, 2025, Fretless promises a harmony of heavy riffs and strategic combat for genre-blending gamers.
