Digital Eclipse, the studio known for meticulously restoring video game classics, has teamed up with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment to announce Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection. This definitive anthology of Mortal Kombat’s early era will launch in 2025 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.
All the Klassics, All in One Place
Legacy Kollection compiles a robust lineup of Mortal Kombat titles from across the arcade, console, and handheld generations. It includes everything from the original 1992 Mortal Kombat arcade release to handheld entries like Mortal Kombat Advance and Tournament Edition for the Game Boy Advance. Each game has been newly enhanced with quality-of-life options, such as save states, button remapping, and visual filters, making them more accessible than ever. Several versions also feature full online multiplayer support with rollback netcode, a welcome touch for competitive players and casual fans alike.
A Living Museum of Kombat
Beyond the playable games, Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection goes full “Krypt mode” with an interactive, in-depth timeline of the franchise’s development. The digital museum features rare concept art, behind-the-scenes footage, and newly recorded interviews with co-creators Ed Boon, John Tobias, Dan Forden, and John Vogel. It’s the first time the franchise’s controversial and genre-defining history has been presented in such an expansive, curated format.
