Darktide Adds Arbites Class and Battle for Tertium Campaign in New Update

Fatshark is bringing the iron-fisted justice of the Adeptus Arbites to Warhammer 40,000: Darktide with today’s release of the game’s first paid class DLC, alongside the free Battle for Tertium update. Available now across PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5, this release introduces a new class, gameplay overhaul, and a slate of new content, including a searing in-game event that sets Tertium ablaze.

Arbites Class: Serve the Lex Imperialis

Available in Standard ($11.99), Deluxe ($18.99), and Cosmetic Upgrade ($7.99) editions, the Arbites Class puts players in the boots of an Arbitrator, the grim enforcers of Imperial Law. At the center of the class is the Cyber-Mastiff, a customizable canine companion that can autonomously hunt targets or be manually directed in battle. Players can spec into several combat archetypes via a robust talent tree—from elite slayers and crowd control to support roles or a Lone Wolf path that forgoes the Mastiff in exchange for raw combat buffs.

New Blitz and Combat abilities also offer tactical variety: toss shock mines, call down area buffs with the Nuncio-Aquila, or enter a Castigator’s Stance for increased mobility and damage resistance.

The Battle for Tertium: Reworked Progression and Story Delivery

The Battle for Tertium update overhauls Darktide’s progression with a linear campaign path, complete with cinematics, curated mission flow, and VO updates. Newcomers now experience the game’s narrative in a more guided format, gradually unlocking mechanics and difficulty tiers by completing missions, rather than grinding levels.

In tandem, a new mission board lets players select difficulties independent of mission type, and Maelstrom challenges are now reserved for top-tier players on Heresy and Auric settings.

Mortis Trials, Inferno Event, and More

The Mortis Trials now feature new memory echoes revealing dark secrets about Shipmistress Brahms, as well as a new Auric difficulty, shorter wave timers, and increased enemy variety.

The limited-time Inferno event (June 23–July 7) introduces fiery hazards to missions, rewarding players with materials and a cosmetic portrait frame for completing the final tier.

Also, live is a new Havoc campaign, QoL improvements like expanded loadout slots, and 900 new banter lines between the original cast and the newly arrived Arbites.
