Indie publisher Panic and developer Playables (creators of KIDS and Plug & Play) have announced that their meditative micro-adventure Time Flies will release on July 31 for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Priced at $14.99 with a 10% launch discount, the game invites players to live life to the fullest — as a housefly.
First revealed in 2022, Time Flies has earned attention for its minimalist, hand-drawn visuals and poignant take on the fleeting nature of life. Developed by Michael Frei and Raphaël Munoz, the game tasks players with completing a long bucket list in a very short amount of time — from learning an instrument and reading a book to just vibing out with some music.
Live Fast, Accomplish Weird Goals
You play as a fly with one job: make the most of your limited life expectancy. With no dialogue or narration, Time Flies leans on visual storytelling and dark humor to create an experience that’s equal parts relaxing and unsettling. Your remaining time is calculated based on your real-world country’s average life expectancy — a clever, grim reminder that time is truly relative.
Along the way, you’ll dodge death, pursue tiny goals, and maybe even find some meaning in the chaos. Or not.
“Flies are pretty annoying, and we’ve been listening to one every day for the past four years of game development,” says Michael Frei. “Please do your part and wishlist the game now, I really need therapy.”
