Aksys Games is tapping into the timeless wonder of growing up in the 1980s with The Good Old Days, a Metroidvania-style 2D action-platformer launching this fall on Nintendo Switch.
Set in the fictional city of Arostia, players control Sean, a kid swept into a one-day quest to pay off his missing father’s debt with only his friends—and a whole lot of adventure—at his side. Inspired by iconic ‘80s movies like The Goonies and E.T., the game blends emotional storytelling, open exploration, and a warm retro glow that captures the spirit of a childhood that never quite fades.
One Day. One Debt. Endless Possibilities.
While Sean is the starting protagonist, you won’t journey alone for long. As you explore Arostia and rescue your imprisoned friends, each new ally becomes playable—complete with their own powers and quirks. Whether it’s leaping over playground rooftops, spelunking through sewers, or solving puzzles in mall arcades, you’ll need to swap between characters to uncover secrets and progress in your own way.
Boss battles? Optional. Paths? Open-ended. From combat to exploration to clever puzzle-solving, The Good Old Days lets players shape their own story. Every decision—from the time of day to the order you meet characters—can alter the outcome.
A Circular Story That Remembers Everything
The Good Old Days doesn’t just celebrate nostalgia—it loops it. With a unique circular narrative structure, each playthrough affects the next. Endings feed back into beginnings, meaning your decisions echo across multiple runs. Replayability isn’t just encouraged—it’s built into the game’s DNA.
Whether you’re uncovering secrets, collecting cash, or just hanging out with your pixelated pals, The Good Old Days offers a heartfelt reminder that sometimes the most epic adventures happen close to home.
Coming Soon to Switch
The Good Old Days will launch in Fall 2025 for Nintendo Switch.
